The National Economic Prosecutor’s Office (FNE) is asking Disney for a $ 4 million sanction for providing false information during the acquisition of Fox in Chile.
According to the document released on Tuesday, FNE 2018 approved the merger between the two parties, with the commitment not to sell Disney channels with Fox and sports signals as a package, such as ESPN and Fox Sports.
Among the irregularities discovered in the process, both parties declared that they had no studies on the Chilean market, a situation that contrasts with a series of documents presented by Disney, where they even have the file name “Chile”.
With this, Disney had a 60-day period to notify pay-TV providers of the operation, instance completed in July 201
Although these situations have not affected the market, incorrect information and infringements of this type of action are transmitted in accordance with Article 3a of DL 211.
