in the world rankings: 6-4 6-3.

Medvedev, fifth in the world rankings, recently reached the semifinals of the US Open. He lost the semifinal to eventual winner Dominic Thiem. Humbert celebrated his first victory over a player from the top 10 in the world rankings.

Football: AS Roma were penalized with a 0-3 defeat

17:14 AS Roma have been severely punished for drafting a player who is not eligible to play on Saturday in the match with Hellas Verona. The Romans still suffered a regular 3-0 defeat on Tuesday.

AS Roma and Hellas Verona kept each other in balance (0-0) on Saturday. However, Amadou Diawara played for AS Roma and he was not eligible to play.

All players over the age of 22 who qualify for Serie A must be registered by their club before the start of the season. However, Diawara was not on the list of 25 players at AS Roma. But on July 17, he already celebrated his 23rd birthday.

The AS Roma management spoke of an unintentional administrative error. Justin Kluivert and Rick Karsdorp’s employers can still appeal the decision.

Cycling: Lammertink second in Paris – Camembert

16:58 Cyclist Maurits Lammertink has just missed the victory in the 81st edition of Paris – Camembert. The Dutchman from Circus-Wanty Gobert managed to stay out of the package together with Dorian Godon. However, he lost a sprint to the French.

13.11 The Premier League match between FC Utrecht and AZ, which was scheduled for Saturday 12 September, will take place on Sunday 27 December. The start is 14.30. The match date has been set in consultation with both clubs, according to KNVB.

Sunday, December 27, is a date set aside for makeup games from the first half of the competition.

The game from the first round of the Premier League was postponed due to the European obligations for AZ, who met Dinamo Kiev in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

Equestrian: Dissatisfied drivers Chardon still participates in the World Cup

11.39: Drivers IJsbrand and Bram Chardon will participate in World Cup driving next month. Father and son Chardon initially threatened to boycott the event, as they are not happy with the choice of the complex to its Australian competitor Boyd Exell in Valkenswaard as an alternative venue. But both drivers have now let national coach Ad Aarts know they want to participate.

The World Cup was originally scheduled to take place in the village of Kronenberg in Limburg in early September, but the organization decided in April to return to the event due to the corona crisis. Australian Exell, which took the individual gold at the last five World Cups and has been the biggest competitor for the Dutch four-in-hand for several years, then offered to hold the World Cup in its spacious complex in North Brabant. Both the Dutch federation KNHS and the international federation FEI agreed.

Four-time world champion IJsbrand Chardon (59) and his son Bram (27) think it is not fair that it is right at the Exell complex that the world title for the team and the individual is fought for. Together with Koos de Ronde, they try to win the team competition between 7 and 11 October in Valkenswaard. At the last World Cup, two years ago in the USA, the orange team had to settle for silver.

Mark Weusthof, Edwin van der Graaf and Peter de Ronde, Kooss’ brother, also take part in the individual four-in-one competition.

Football: Red JC without suspended coach Streppel

10.43: Roda JC will play the away match against FC Eindhoven next week without coach Jurgen Streppel on the bench. Streppel has been suspended in a match by KNVB, as he was sent to the stands shortly after each other against FC Dordrecht (4-0) with two yellow cards.

Streppel had to leave due to persistent comments about the arbitration. With a 3-0 lead, Roda’s coach was angry at the red card that his striker Erik Falkenburg had received. That gives him a suspension for the next match, on Tuesday 29 September against FC Eindhoven.

Falkenburg rejected a settlement proposal for four duels, one of which was conditional. The disciplinary committee will now consider the matter.

With nine points from four matches, Roda JC is in third place in the Kitchen Champion Division.

Ice Hockey: German Leon Draisaitl best player in the NHL

7.44: Not an American or a Canadian, but the German Leon Draisaitl has been named the best ice hockey player in the NHL. The 24-year-old Edmonton Oilers freight forwarder received the most votes in the election among ice hockey journalists. In addition to the Hart Memorial Trophy for the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Draisaitl also received the Ted Lindsay Award, the award that the NHL Players Association awards annually to the star of the year.

The ice hockey player from Cologne scored 110 points in the regular competition: 43 goals and 67 assists. Draisaitl already received the Art Ross Trophy for the NHL’s top scorer.

“This is a great honor,” said Draisaitl, the second German after Dirk Nowitzki to be named MVP in a major American sports competition. Basketball player Nowitzki was the NBA’s most valuable player during the 2006-2007 season. “This is very nice for me personally. But nothing beats winning the Stanley Cup, says Draisaitl. “If I could swap those two Stanley Cup prizes, I would do it right away.” The Edmonton Oilers were eliminated early in the playoffs this season.
